Today, ladies and gents, I'm doing something a little different. I'm profiling others who are navigating the murky ocean called the "dating scene" to find out about their experiences. We start with Andy, 21-year-old genius extraordinaire, avid Starcraft player and self-proclaimed gold digger.
Me: Andy, how often do you play Starcraft?
Andy: Daily, around 2 hours, sometimes 3.
Me: Why do you like it so much?
Andy: Most of the time I play because I'm really bored and have nothing better to do, but I also play because it's a competitive game and I'm happy when I win.
Me: Do you think it will help you get women?
Andy: Well I think its a good conversation topic, but most girls don't, which is unfortunate. I think in that sense it might hurt me, because even though I have other things I could talk about, I like Starcraft a lot and end up talking about it "on accident" which turns girls off.
Me: (Chuckling) What do you mean "on accident?"
Andy: I'm pretty impulsive and as a result do and say things I know i shouldn't--either immediate regret [happens] or I realize I shouldn't before I do it, but do it anyway.
Me: What's the most impulsive thing you've done to get a girl?
Andy: I honestly can't remember. I don't really talk to girls I'm interested in that often though.
Me: Is that because you're shy or just worried you'll start talking about Starcraft again?
Andy: Because I'm shy! I'm not that much of a loser. I mean Starcraft is usually the least of my worries. My political views (I'm a conservative/libertarian) also make a lot of people my age mad; especially at my very liberal college.
Me: That makes sense. So tell us about your gold digger side.
Andy: Well I'm not necessarily a gold digger, but I think I'd rather raise children than be the breadwinner in a family,
so optimally I would marry a career-minded woman who still wants to have kids.
Me: When do you want to get married?
Andy: Mid 20s.
Me: Pretty early.
Andy: I guess. I'd rather have kids young so i can see them for longer and be more energetic while raising them.
Me: You talk about having kids a lot. Is that the primary reason you want to get married?
Andy: Yea I think so. I never thought of it that way though.
Me: Glad I could shed some light. After you meet a girl you really like and start dating, how soon would you propose?
Andy: 2 years. Also depends on the financial situation. I mean obviously I'd wait until we were financially stable but minimum of two years.
Me: Ok, this is really the last question. Are you going to teach your kids to play Starcraft?
Andy: Yes.
