There are some pretty interesting blogs out there. So I'm delighted that you're reading mine. You're most likely reading it because you're so bored in class or at work that you're nearing a zombie state. No matter the reason, I am eternally grateful for my official loyal following of 12, and unofficial following of who knows how many. Probably 15.
My roommate has inspired me to be brutally truthful. Not that I was really holding back before, but now you might see an even more raw side to this blog. I don't know if I mentioned this but this blog has a new home: San Francisco! A gorgeous and eclectic city that covers just a small spot on the earth's surface, but boasts a wild spirit that could infuse the entire Milke Way Galaxy. Neighborhoods make their own personalities. Each different than the last. You're never bored in this city. But you do have to make a little effort to get to know it. Be open-minded. Be curious. Act like a sponge. I haven't had much opportunity to implement my new found philosophies due to the long commute and long hours at work. But this changes tonight. Starting with an art party at my friends hair salon. Tomorrow a night of clubbing. The fun continues Saturday with a wonderful concert at the Greek theatre in Berkeley. Sunday who knows?
So far, the city has treated me well. The people? Let's discuss that.
My new team at work has been great. Very friendly individuals who are each willing to share their knowledge and collaborate with you on projects. I'm a huge fan and grateful to be working in such a great team.
My new roommate? A tiny fiery Russian blond chick. Interesting, articulate and fun. I am looking forward to seeing how our living situation will play out.
New friends: Outside of Google I have made none. Within Google, I'm making more and more friends slowly. I met a Googler today who has suggested a bunch of weekend activities. Amen to that!
Old San Fran flame? We're just friends, drama-free relationship.
But it's not all sunshine and rainbows. I've also gotten incredibly homesick. I don't miss the city of Austin too much, but I miss my family, friends and my dog to an extent I couldn't have imagined. Bouts of homesickness hit me in the morning and in the evening the most, and a shivering loneliness takes over. My excitement to be here is deeply hidden somewhere. But I'll strive to uncover it as much as I can. Onward and upward, right? Readers, let's explore San Francisco.
