Dear readers,
It has been about a year and half since I've posted anything. And frankly, that's just far too long.
In the past year and a half, I've learned A LOT. I've become much stronger and wiser as a person and, consequently, as a dater. I've dated some incredible guys and I've dated some total dipshits. I've learned to love myself and I've learned that I'm pretty much not going to change anymore. If you don't like it, then too bad.
The San Francisco dating scene still hasn't ceased to amaze me. It's not hard to meet witty, fun, professionally ambitious and intelligent guys who actually look in the mirror when they dress. But that's only half of the equation. It's even more important to make sure you're entering an agreement with someone that treats you with respect and who actually sembles some emotional maturity. That's about as difficult to find as light traffic on the 101 during Friday rush hour. Is it impossible? Certainly not. I have my lovely friends as examples.
I call this bred of men, "man-children." More on that in the next entry :)
I thought I'd keep this entry fun and light by copying some of the most ridiculous messages I have received from Ok Cupid below. Enjoy!
Person 1:
"HI
you are adorable!
I am an upscale gentleman in SF seeking an ongoing "discreet arrangement" with a beautiful young woman.
I am 46, kind, generous, intelligent, Harvard grad, MBA, successful in the investment business.
i am happy to tell you all about myself and share a pic.
take care!"
I am speechless.
Person 2:
He sends me a message that says "Hey there! So where have you traveled, mostly?"
I take a look at this profile, decide I'm not interested and don't respond.
He responds back with "You seem a bit limited, anyway."
WOW, talk about not handling rejection well.
Person 3:
Not sure what his first message was but his next message read a little bit like this:
"dont play games with me. Come on...talk to me! i guarantee you would not be disappointed. give it a shot."
Person 4:
All the message said was "I don't know why but I get this incredible urge to lift you over my head."
This guy was amazingly freaking gorgeous but I didn't respond.
XOXO,
Dating Aficionado
Definitely go for person #1. He is kind AND generous.
